Job Summary
Obtain medical records and supporting documentation, proactively securing incomplete data for clean claim submission using EMR access and traditional requests. Examine documents to determine proper placement, verify patient identification, and perform pre-scan validation of new claims to ensure accuracy and timely processing. Resolve pending claims within the Breg Claim System while maintaining HIPAA compliance and upholding quality controls. Perform administrative tasks including receiving paper claims, scanning, shipping, faxes, and creating correspondence, while contributing to process improvement activities and meeting daily objectives for revenue and scorecard expectations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3+ years of experience in medical billing or HIM related job duties
- Previous medical records experience, including EMR navigation, general billing knowledge, CPT and ICD-10 codes
- Knowledge of standard medical terminology, basic human anatomy, orthopedic diagnoses, and medical record format, content, and medical documentation order
- Knowledge of EMR systems and understanding of where various data points and clinical information is located
- Computer proficient to include web browser/internet search, MS Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point capabilities
- Technical competence includes the ability to learn new software and systems
- Proficient in the use and operation of office machinery, telecommunications, and web-based tools
- Ability to perform routine maintenance and basic maintenance of scanning equipment
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm and professional
- Ability to maintain consistent, regular attendance and punctuality
- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
- Drug Free work environment
