Job Summary
Oversee and actively participate in the organization, retrieval, and retention of health records while ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards. Supervise and mentor HIM staff through training and performance feedback, maintaining adequate staffing and adjusting workflows to meet operational needs. Monitor EHR processes, chart completion, and documentation accuracy, then manage release of information requests and conduct regular audits to maintain data integrity. Develop and update departmental policies and procedures in alignment with best practices while collaborating with clinical and administrative leaders on data governance and quality improvement initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of three years' experience in health information or medical records management, including supervisory responsibilities
- Proficiency in EHR systems
- Strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, release of information processes, and record retention requirements
- Ability to read, interpret, and apply regulatory guidelines and organizational policies
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field preferred
- RHIT or RHIA certification strongly desired
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Bilingual ability is a plus
