Job Summary
Health Improvement Practitioner role within General Practices across Wellington, Porirua, Kapiti and Hutt Valley regions, with some remote/virtual work options. Deliver brief evidence-based psychological interventions and facilitate group programmes to promote health and wellbeing, working alongside GPs and multidisciplinary primary care teams. Focus on mental health and addiction early intervention, developing group pathways to meet community needs. Comprehensive on-the-job training provided. Must have a qualification enabling therapeutic support, registration for mental health/addictions practice, clinical experience, and strong knowledge of evidence-based models and the BHC approach; comfortable working independently within a primary health care team and with Māori and Pacific populations. Location includes Wellington, NZ with hybrid remote options; role is full-time. Training and support available to deliver services in primary care settings using the BHC model, supporting patients and liaising with practice teams and community networks.
Required Qualifications
- A qualification that enables you to provide therapeutic support
- Registration that enables and endorses practice in mental health and addictions
- Clinical experience working with clients
- Strong understanding of evidence-based therapeutic models, particularly brief interventions
- Proficiency in the Behavioural Health Consultancy (BHC) model
- Creative, solutions-focused approach and passion for talking therapies
- Ability to work independently while being part of a primary health care team
- Capability in working with Māori and Pacific populations
