Job Summary

Mentor new Health Educator I staff through onboarding, shadowing, and mock presentations while supervising volunteers, interns, and peer educators to achieve program goals. Collaborate with the Community Education Manager to develop best practices, expand programs, and improve curriculum effectiveness for target populations including schools, juvenile correctional institutions, and community agencies. Lead internal communication to ensure deadlines are met and coordinate special virtual and in-person events, workshops, and multimedia projects like webinars and videos. Represent Planned Parenthood in school districts and community networks to increase awareness of services and linkages to care, utilizing strong computer skills for outreach efforts.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Sciences, or any other science-related field including biological science, pre-medical, Education, Liberal Arts, Sociology, Social Work, or other related fields, or a minimum of two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year of current experience as a Health Educator I
  • Knowledge of basic principles and practices of PPOSBC programs, social marketing, evaluation, and outreach efforts
  • Ability to demonstrate mature judgment, initiative, and critical thinking
  • Willingness to work with special populations such as youth in foster care, youth with special needs, youth in juvenile detention, domestic violence shelters, etc.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, which may include evenings and weekends as necessary for job delivery
  • Strong knowledge of multimedia for community education via websites, webinars, and chats
  • Strong commitment to quality healthcare and excellent customer service
  • Must thrive in a fast-paced, rigorous environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure
  • Must demonstrate high-level computer skills including: Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Electronic medical records experience
  • Valid CA driver's license
  • Current auto insurance in compliance with the minimum requirements of CA vehicle code

Desired Qualifications

  • C.H.E.S. (Community Health Education Specialist) certification
