Job Summary
Assist residents with medication administration, bathing, grooming, dressing, and therapeutic activities while maintaining the neatness of rooms, furniture, and mobility devices. Participate in multidisciplinary committee work including care conferences and unit meetings, and engage in continuous quality improvement through data collection. Deliver effective care under supervision that promotes resident choice and ensures safety, while actively pursuing continuing education to maintain skills. Requires a Health Care Aide certificate, CPR/BCLS certification, and active enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Full physical fitness needed for lifting up to 75 pounds and working on feet for complete evening shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Health Care Aide certificate (or equivalent) from an accredited institution
- CPR/BCLS for healthcare providers
- Active enrollment in the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory
- Clear police information check, with the vulnerable sector, dated within the last 6 months
- Demonstrated skills in communication, teamwork, organization, and customer service
- High attention to detail and thoroughness
- Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to person-centered care
- Awareness of accident and injury prevention, hazard identification and control
- Adherence to safe work practices and procedures
- Ability to problem solve through critical thinking and self-education
- Physically and mentally fit to perform the duties of the position
- Ability to lift, move, push, or pull objects weighing up to 75 pounds
- Ability to work on his/her feet for a complete shift while constantly bending, stretching, walking, lifting, or moving things
