Job Summary
Health Care Aide (HCA) in the Home Care Program, 0.80 FTE, days/evenings/weekends, in-person in Winnipeg. Provides direct client/patient/resident care and supports activities of daily living to help clients maintain independence within established standards. Duties include assisting with ADLs, implementing care plans, communicating effectively with clients and families, and maintaining documentation. Requires completion of a recognized HCA program, Manitoba Grade 10, valid Class 5 driver’s license (where travel is required), and Basic Life Support training. Must be adaptable to shift work and travel between client homes; ability to work in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and adhere to organizational policies.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education (Manitoba standards)
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or willingness to travel year-round
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training and/or maintenance of competence may be required in some settings
- Ability to provide safe, effective personal care with consideration for privacy and respect
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with clients, families, and co-workers
- Ability to use basic computer skills (MS Word and Outlook)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Knowledge of Indigenous customs and languages may be preferred
- May be required to travel between client homes
- Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks as conditions of employment
