Job Summary
Health Care Aide provides direct client/patient/resident care in community/home, health care centers, or hospitals, assisting with activities of daily living to support independence. Responsibilities include delivering safe, effective personal care, communicating with clients and co-workers, applying critical thinking, prioritizing workload, and using electronic charting where applicable. Requires ability to travel to clients’ homes and work in shift patterns including days, evenings, and weekends; requires compliance with infection control and safety standards and ability to work both independently and as part of a team. Knowledge of Indigenous customs and, when required, French language skills may be beneficial. Current CPR/BLS may be required in some settings.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education (Manitoba standards)
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course
- Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and willingness to travel year-round
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training and/or maintenance of competence may be required in some settings
