Job Summary
The Health Care Aide provides direct client/patient/resident care and assists with activities of daily living in community homes, health care centers, or hospitals under supervision. Responsibilities include delivering safe, respectful personal care, supporting independence, and adapting to varying settings. Requires completion of a Health Care Aide course, Manitoba Grade 10 standards, a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or reliable vehicle, Basic Cardiac Life Support training, and the ability to work shifts in days/evenings/weekends in an in-person capacity. May be required to travel between client homes and to use electronic charting systems; bilingual ability (French) may be required. Shift patterns and the need to comply with relevant safety and regulatory checks (CRCs, Vulnerable Sector, and other registry checks) are noted, with an indefinite term and 0.60 FTE in a Winnipeg-based role within WRHA Community Health Services – Seven Oaks Team (East).
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education (Manitoba standards)
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training and/or maintenance of competence
- Ability to provide safe, effective personal care and assist with activities of daily living
- Experience in care for individuals with physical or cognitive impairments (preferred)
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; French may be required
- Appropriate checks: Criminal Records Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, and possibly Child/Adult Abuse Registry checks
