Job Summary
Health Care Aide (HCA) assists clients/patients/residents with activities of daily living in community homes, health care centers, and hospitals to support independence and provide comprehensive care. Requires completion of a recognized HCA program and Grade 10 education. Roles may involve travel between client homes, driving is a condition of employment in some settings, and responsibilities include direct care, communication with clients and families, and adherence to standards of care. Shift work includes days, evenings, and weekends; in-person work arrangement. Mandatory checks and training (e.g., Basic Cardiac Life Support, Vulnerable Sector/Criminal Records) are required where applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training or maintenance of competence may be required
- Ability to provide safe, effective care and communicate effectively
- Shift work including days, evenings, weekends
- Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) and Child/Adult Abuse Registry Checks may be required
