Job Summary
Provide patient care within Health Care Competencies and refer clients/family to appropriate health care team members for information beyond the worker's role. Build rapport with clients and families; support physical, mental, emotional, psychosocial, and cultural/spiritual needs; use active listening; foster teamwork and effective communication. Check equipment for defects and report them; adhere to infection control practices and isolation procedures; follow guidelines to prevent occupational hazards and fire/electrical incidents. Become acquainted with clients, observe and report status, support clients' health and wellness, and assist in maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe home environment. Respect client confidentiality and privacy, recognize signs of abuse, document and report altered client behaviours, and complete daily shift client charting. HCA certification and ongoing First Aid/CPR Level C; satisfactory criminal record check are required. The role is on-site in Edmonton, AB with biweekly hours covering Saturdays and Sundays (3:00 pm–11:15 pm, 31 hours biweekly).
Required Qualifications
- HCA certificate from an institution recognized by Alberta health Services as evidenced through enrolment in the CLHA Directory as mandate
- Maintain certification in First Aid and CPR Level C
- Satisfactory current criminal record check
