Job Summary
Health Care Aide (HCA) provides direct client/patient/resident care in community/home settings, health care centers, or hospitals, assisting with activities of daily living to support independence and overall health. Responsibilities include delivering safe, effective personal care within established standards, communicating with clients/families/co-workers, applying critical thinking, organizing workload, and adapting to varied settings. Must have a valid Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license (or reliable vehicle) and may require Basic Cardiac Life Support training; willingness to travel; ability to work days/evenings/weekends; experience with electronic charting may be preferred; English language proficiency required (French may be required); Indigenous knowledge encouraged. This position is in-person with shift patterns and may involve travel between client homes. The maternity/parental term may expire earlier with notice. Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 10 education
- Successful completion of a recognized Health Care Aide course
- Manitoba Class 5 driver’s license or access to a reliable vehicle
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Training and/or maintenance of competence may be required in some settings
- Ability to provide safe, effective, personal care
- Strong communication skills in English; knowledge of Indigenous customs and values preferred; French may be required
- Capacity to work shift work and weekends; ability to travel between client homes
