Job Summary
Health Care Aide provides ADL support under the direction of RN/LPN/RPN leaders, working to full scope of practice and following established care plans. The role emphasizes person-centered care, collaboration with the care team, and adherence to professional standards and regulatory requirements. Responsibilities include assisting residents/patients with daily living activities, promoting safety, communicating effectively, and maintaining required certifications and documentation. The position requires flexibility to work days and nights, and may involve travel to other regional facilities; bilingual positions require proficiency in English and French.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12
- Health Care Aide Certificate from a recognized program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
- Knowledge of Confidentiality/privacy requirements (PHIA and FIPPA)
- Knowledge of Workplace safety requirements (WHMIS)
- Knowledge of Violence Prevention Program (VPP) training and processes
- Knowledge of SCHIPP training and processes
- Ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to work as a team member and seek assistance as needed
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to read, write, speak and understand English; ability to interact well with others
- Willingness to work in stressful environments; ability to travel to other regional facilities as required
- Bilingual qualifications for targeted positions (English/French)
- Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Search, Adult Abuse Registry Check, and Child Abuse Registry Check
- Three work-related references from non-relatives
- Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle (where required)
- Respect for confidentiality across media
