Job Summary
Health Care Aide (HCA) provides support to residents/patients for activities of daily living under a nurse team lead, working in a fully in-person, temporary 0.5 FTE role at Centre de santé St. Claude Health Centre. Responsibilities include delivering person-centered care per established standards, engaging in ongoing education/certifications to maintain competency, and functioning with initiative to prioritize care in alignment with care plans. The role requires Health Care Aide Certificate, Grade 12 or equivalent, current BLS, bilingual English/French proficiency, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with potential evenings/weekends. Experience of 1-2 years in health care is preferred; the posting notes a temporary, part-time arrangement with CUPE. Compliance with confidentiality, PHIA/FIPPA, WHMIS, VPP, and SCHIPP training is expected, along with willingness to travel to regional facilities if duties require. The position is in-person, with potential for evening/weekend shifts and a term ending per collective agreement.
Required Qualifications
- Grade 12 education required or equivalent
- Health Care Aide Certificate from recognized program
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (Acute Care)
- Proficiency of both official languages (English/French) essential
- Demonstrated ability to organize and prioritize workload
- Ability to work in stressful environments with potentially aggressive individuals
- Good attendance and work history
- Three work-related references
- Criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks as required
- Vaccination per policy
- Ability to read/write/speak English; bilingualism encouraged
