Job Summary
As a Health Care Aide, you will work collaboratively with the care team to deliver resident-focused care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse. Responsibilities include observing residents for changes in their condition, reporting findings to the Staff Nurse, assisting with personal care activities such as bathing and dressing, and contributing to the Nursing Care Plan. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, along with experience in community health services, and a commitment to providing compassionate support to seniors. A graduate certificate from a Health Care Aide program and a current Vulnerable Sector Check are mandatory for applicants.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum)
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
- Demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
- Ability to perform tasks necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients
- Complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or willingness to obtain one
