Job Summary
Health Care Aide provides resident-focused basic care under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse, observing residents for changes during activities (bathing, washing, dressing), contributing to the Nursing Care Plan, assisting with mobility and community activities, and communicating observations to the nursing team to ensure holistic, person-centered care. The role emphasizes teamwork, strong communication, organizational skills, and a compassionate approach to supporting seniors in a care setting.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum)
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
- Demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
