Job Summary
Health Care Aide at AgeCare (New Westminster, BC): work as a member of the care team under the supervision of a Licensed Practical Nurse to provide resident-focused basic care and services. Observe residents during activities such as tub bathing, washing, dressing, and transferring; report changes to the Staff Nurse; participate in developing the Nursing Care Plan; support movement and community functions; and ensure safety. Requires completion of a Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent) with minimum 500 hours of theory and practicum, plus experience with seniors in community health settings. Must have strong written and oral communication, organizational and time-management skills, and strong interpersonal/customer focus. A current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification is recommended; must provide a Vulnerable Sector Check/Criminal Background Check or be willing to obtain one. Salary is wage-based at $31.64 per hour (annualized to $65,811), with benefits and opportunities for growth. Required Qualifications
- Graduate of Health Care Aide program (or provincial equivalent certificate program with minimum 500 hours of theory & practicum)
- Experience working with seniors in the community health services setting
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer focus skills
- Must have demonstrated sound skills and knowledge of providing personal care duties
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support and First Aid certification recommended
- Ability to perform tasks that are necessary for the position, e.g. lifting/transferring clients
- Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one
