Job Summary
Health and Safety Officer responsible for on-site construction safety (60%), workplace safety (30%), and administrative/quality support (10%), ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and supporting continuous improvement. Lead safety across local operations and on-site construction per ISO 45001, coordinate site orientations, hazard assessments, toolbox talks, and site visits/audits, maintain safety documentation, track metrics, coordinate training, and support JOSH committees. Collaborate with project teams and site leadership to strengthen safety accountability across diverse project locations and ensure regulatory compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Construction Safety, or related field (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)
- 3-5 years of experience in occupational health and safety, construction safety, or industrial safety roles
- Proven ability to conduct safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments in manufacturing and construction environments
- Proficiency in safety documentation management (hazard assessments, procedures, training records)
- Knowledge of WorkSafeBC, ASTM, EN, ISO standards; desirable familiarity with ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001
- Ability to travel within Canada and internationally up to 20%
