Job Summary
Health and Safety Advisor to support Calgary-area commercial construction operations. Lead local safety initiatives, build strong relationships with field crews and management, and act as a visible on-site presence to promote safe work practices, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities include promoting the Health and Safety Program, collaborating with Site Superintendents and General Contractors to implement safe procedures across multiple projects, conducting regular site inspections and coaching, developing and implementing safety programs and documentation, mentoring junior safety team members, assisting with WCB claims management and injury reporting, preparing weekly/monthly safety reports and analytics, delivering site safety orientations and ongoing training, ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations for employees and subcontractors, conducting investigations into incidents and near-misses with corrective actions, leading safety meetings and toolbox talks, assisting in fall protection planning, and supporting COR audit activities.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience in a health and safety role is required
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Human Resources, or a related field is considered an asset
- Experience in the construction industry is considered an asset
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Current First Aid certification
- Strong knowledge of WCB Alberta regulations, policies, guidelines, and standards
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
