Job Summary

Health & Nutrition Manager will guide health and nutrition systems and services within Head Start/Early Head Start programs, providing technical and management support to ensure effective coordination, implementation, and monitoring of health and nutrition services. Responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating systems for health, nutrition and safety services; maintaining records; aligning curricula with Performance Standards; monitoring outcomes through data; supporting school readiness plans; training and coaching staff; budgeting and procurement coordination; securing contracts and interagency agreements; overseeing the Child Care Food Program and USDA reporting; ensuring child safety and safeguarding obligations; collaborating with Education staff and community providers; site visits and observations; and reporting on program activities. Requirements include LPN credential, a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a health or nutrition-related field, relevant experience in health and nutrition services for young children and families, proficiency with MS Office, strong written/spoken English, budget and procurement knowledge, relationship-building skills, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion. Preferred qualifications include bilingual ability (English/Spanish). The role is full-time with compensation starting at $58,473, with no stated relocation requirement.

Required Qualifications

  • A minimum of a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Certification/Diploma or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a health or nutrition-related field; plus at least three (3) years of relevant work experience in a position that directly relates to the provision and management of Health and Nutrition services for young children and their families.
  • Extensive knowledge of Head Start Program Performance Standards as well as health and nutrition services for infant, toddler and preschool programs.
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Demonstrated knowledge of administration, budgeting, purchasing systems management, and public relations skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing consistent, stable and supportive relationships with young children.
  • Proven ability to exercise professional judgment and evaluation before making decisions.
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, children, parents and outside agencies.
  • Demonstrated successful ability to communicate and collaborate with individuals and teams at all levels—both internal and external
  • Proven successful problem-solving and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering an environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging
  • Licenses & Certifications: License Practical Nurse (preferred)
  • Bachelor's or higher in Health Services Administration or related field (preferred)
