Job Summary
Coordinate cargo staging for vessel loading and unloading operations by preparing, verifying, and positioning export and import cargo for stevedoring. Direct and supervise forklift operators and labor teams while operating heavy equipment to load and unload goods within terminal activities. Ensure safe work practices, maintain clean work areas, and conduct inspections to verify cargo accuracy and minimize damage. Monitor equipment condition, report operational issues, and identify hazards affecting personnel, equipment, or cargo. Maintain communication between terminal staff and leadership while ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations. Requires flexible schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime, with a minimum of two years of maritime industry experience and forklift operating skills.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience in the maritime industry as a Team Leader or Header
- Minimum 2 years of forklift operating experience (8K–52K forklifts)
- Strong time management, organizational, and prioritization skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak intermediate English
- Basic knowledge of two-way radio communication
- Basic computer skills and data entry experience
- Ability to accurately process alphanumeric information
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime
- Ability to work outdoors and lift, push, or pull up to 55 pounds
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of HAZMAT (DOT:49CFR) or Dangerous Goods (IMO:IMDG Code)
- Current HAZMAT and Dangerous Goods certification
