Job Summary
Header Operator on the 2nd shift in Munith, MI, responsible for setting up and running cold forming (header) equipment to manufacture parts to exact specifications. Tasks include measuring and inspecting parts with precision instruments, loading and sizing material, adjusting tooling and machine settings, monitoring operation, troubleshooting malfunctions, performing minor maintenance, reading tool layouts and part prints, coordinating tooling changes with the team, handling tooling and dies, moving supplies with a crane/forklift/hand truck, assisting with developmental setups and new part introductions, and accurately documenting quality data and production records while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Set up and operate cold former (header) to manufacture parts to precise specifications
- Measure and inspect parts using micrometers, calipers, gauges, and other precision instruments
- Load material, draw material down to size, adjust tooling, verify machine settings
- Monitor machine operation, troubleshoot, perform minor maintenance
- Read and understand tool layouts, part prints, and part progression layouts
- Collaborate with team on machine setups, tooling changes, and operational requirements
- Position and feed wire through dies that extrude and shape stock
- Adjust wedges & brass settings to set pressures and depths of ram strokes
- Repair/maintain/replace tooling as needed
- Use overhead crane, forklift, and hand truck to move supplies
- Document quality data, measurements, and production records
- Maintain safe, clean, and organized work environment and follow procedures
