Job Summary
Headend Engineer I responsible for the 24x7 operation of the primary headend and secondary hub sites and all equipment within each facility. Performs basic preventive maintenance, installation, and monitoring to ensure proper functionality in compliance with manufacturer specs and company guidelines. Coordinates with field personnel on troubleshooting and expedites restoration of services. Assists with setup/activation of optical paths for new/rebuilt/upgraded plants, and reports activities to HEll/HElll/Area Headend Manager. Requires high school diploma or GED plus related technical training, and 2+ years in preventive maintenance; proficiency with TCP/IP, HFC/FTTH concepts, and low-voltage equipment; ability to work flexible hours; and willingness to follow safety and regulatory standards.
Required Qualifications
- High School Degree or GED and one-year certificate from college or technical school in telecommunications or related field
- 2+ years of experience in Preventive Maintenance is required
- ability to read and understand engineering prints as they pertain to Hub facilities
- basic knowledge of TCP/IP networks
- Basic understanding of HFC/FTTH Networks
- Low voltage experience such as DC/AC powerplants
- ability to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends and on-call shifts
