Job Summary
Plan, organize, and conduct regular practice sessions while developing game strategies and teaching fundamental skills to student-athletes. Supervise athletes during practices, games, and school-sponsored trips, monitoring their academic progress and enforcing school policies and codes of conduct. Promote discipline, responsibility, and good sportsmanship while managing team equipment and collaborating with the athletic director on scheduling, budget, and facility use. Maintain open communication with parents and guardians, providing mentorship on personal development and college opportunities. Work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed, ensuring compliance with all state and district athletic regulations.
Required Qualifications
- Prior coaching experience at the high school or competitive youth level
- Valid Florida teaching certificate or valid Department of Education athletic coaching certificate
- Valid FHSAA certification
- Valid Adult and Child First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Valid Florida Driver's License
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and during school breaks as needed
Desired Qualifications
- Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications
- Head coaching experience in the assigned or a closely related sport at the high school level
- Experience mentoring youth and fostering a positive team culture
- Familiarity with academic eligibility requirements for student-athletes
- Knowledge of the sport's rules, techniques, and safety practices
- Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
- Ability to collaborate with school staff, parents, and community partners
