Job Summary
Head Wrangler responsible for assisting the Horsemanship Supervisor with herd care, readiness of horses, and the development, implementation, and safety of Palomar Christian Conference Center’s horse programs, including trail rides and Girls Summer Horse Camp. Duties include grooming and caring for horses, maintaining health records, training horses, ensuring safety of staff and guests, coordinating horse-camp activities, and training staff who work with horses. Lodging is provided as a condition of employment. The role involves supervising stable operations, trail rides, and program curriculum under the Horsemanship Coordinator, with emphasis on safety, program quality, and guest experience.
Required Qualifications
- Must be certified at or have equivalent training to a CHA level 2
- Must have extensive horse experience and understand horse behavior
- First Aid/ CPR/ CCAC certified (will train)
- Must have (2) two years prior work experience in related field
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. and move a minimum of 100 lbs.
Desired Qualifications
- CHA Level 2 certification
- First Aid/CPR/CCAC certification
- Extensive horse experience and understanding of horse behavior
- Two years of related work experience
- Ability to lift at least 50 lbs and move 100 lbs
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proficiency with basic Microsoft Office applications
