Job Summary
Head Varsity Softball Coach responsible for planning, organizing, and directing the high school varsity softball program. Focus on advanced fundamentals, team strategy, player development, and fostering sportsmanship, leadership, and ethical behavior. Duties include planning and conducting practices, coaching during games, ensuring compliance with district policies and league regulations, supervising student-athletes, communicating with players/parents/school staff, coordinating with the Athletic Director on scheduling, transportation, equipment, and facility use, maintaining rosters and eligibility records, promoting academic success and positive behavior, assisting with equipment management, and participating in meetings and professional development related to coaching and student safety. Requires evening/weekend work and travel as needed; outdoor athletic environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma required; college degree preferred.
- Strong knowledge of softball rules, game strategy, and skill development appropriate for high school athletes.
- Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Completion of all required coaching certifications and background checks.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
- Prior softball coaching experience at the high school or higher level preferred.
- Previous playing experience preferred.
