Job Summary
Head Varsity Softball Coach leads and supports the varsity softball program within the Sidney City School District. Responsibilities include assisting the head coach with organization, management, and evaluation of the team; meeting with the athletic director and head coach to review schedules and policies; attending mandatory athletic trainings; maintaining records and reports; promoting student participation and equitable selection of team members; recruiting and supervising student managers and trainers; recruiting scouts; coordinating home game staffing; setting high expectations for student athletes and prioritizing academics; communicating athletic rules and district policies; ensuring equipment readiness and safety; coordinating practice schedules and off-season activities; providing guidance on coaching techniques and safety precautions; maintaining equipment inventories; fostering a positive image of the school district; and collaborating with community resources to enhance athletic activities. This role requires professionalism, coaching proficiency, strong interpersonal and organizational skills, and the ability to work with students, staff, parents, and the public. It also notes potential travel for meetings and assignments and the district’s equal-opportunity employment stance.
Required Qualifications
- Valid State of Ohio teacher’s license is preferred
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., tuberculosis test)
- Provides documented evidence of a clear criminal record
- Coaching expertise for the assigned sport
- Completion of all pupil activity supervisor validation requirements
- Documentation of current CPR training
- Meets all prerequisite qualifications to be bonded
