Head Varsity Softball Coach

Job Summary
Lead the varsity softball program by organizing practices, managing equipment inventory, and ensuring athlete safety through emergency response and concussion education protocols. Coordinate with assistant coaches, athletic boosters, and the teaching staff to promote public relations, plan special events, and oversee award ceremonies. Maintain accurate records for eligibility, injuries, and financial fees while adhering to Ohio Department of Education standards and child protective services mandates. This seasonal, supplemental contract role requires daily and weekend availability, occasional overnight travel, and the ability to operate a motor vehicle in inclement weather.
Required Qualifications
- PASP – Pupil Activity Supervisor Permit issued by The Ohio Department of Education
- Fundamentals of Coaching
- Concussion Education
- Valid CPR Certification
- First Aide/Health Safety
- Sudden Cardiac Arrest Training – Lindsey's Law
- An extensive knowledge and background of the sport that he/she is coaching
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively both orally and in writing
- Effective, active listening skills
- Organizational and problem solving skills
- Knowledge of child development and an understanding of age appropriate tasks
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Interacts in a positive manner with staff, parents and students
- Establish and maintain cooperative relationships
- Maintain appropriate licenses/endorsements and training hours as required
- Adhere to all standards established by the Ohio Department of Education for Licensed Educators
- Be able to use athletic software
- Follows Board Policy
- Refer suspected cases of child abuse immediately to the appropriate child protective services/law enforcement agency as mandated by state law and Board of Education policy
- After school and weekend work
- Requirement to travel both daily and possibly overnight
- Lift, carry, push, and pull various supplies and materials up to a maximum of 50 pounds
- Occasional operation of a motor vehicle in inclement weather conditions
- Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District
