Job Summary
Head Varsity Girls Swim Coach at Grand Rapids Catholic Central High School leads and develops a faith-centered, competitive girls swim program for varsity and sub-varsity levels. The role focuses on establishing high standards, accountability, and a positive team culture while driving technique, conditioning, academic progress, and character development. Responsibilities include providing leadership and vision for the program, organizing practices and meets, supervising assistant coaches, coordinating logistics and budgeting, promoting the program within the school and community, and ensuring compliance with school, conference, and MHSAA rules. The coach supports spiritual growth, promotes multi-sport participation, and fosters a safe, inclusive environment for student-athletes. Preferred candidates have prior high school or collegiate coaching experience, strong swimming knowledge, and a track record of mentoring student-athletes. CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain) and meeting all MHSAA and school coaching requirements are required. Availability for practices, meets, and off-season responsibilities is expected.
Required Qualifications
- Previous coaching experience at the high school or collegiate level preferred
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop student-athletes
- Strong knowledge of swimming techniques, training methods, and meet strategy
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Commitment to the values and mission of Catholic education
- Ability to build and sustain a competitive and positive team culture
- Availability for practices, meets, and off-season responsibilities
- CPR/First Aid and Lifeguard certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Must meet all MHSAA and school coaching requirements
