Job Summary
The Head Strength & Conditioning Coach will design and implement year-round, sport-specific training programs for Alfred University intercollegiate athletic teams comprising 600-700 student-athletes, supervise part-time assistants and graduate students, manage the Strength & Conditioning Center operations and budget, collaborate with sport coaches and athletic trainers, emphasize injury prevention and performance enhancement, and maintain a safe, professional training environment with a focus on safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in exercise science or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science or related field
- Nationally recognized strength and conditioning certification (e.g., NSCA-CSCS, CSCCa, USAW) with CSCS preferred
- Three or more years of experience in a collegiate setting as a strength and conditioning coach
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification by time of employment
- Ability to teach, lead, and counsel college student-athletes
- Integrity and high ethical standards
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of NCAA Division III rules related to strength and conditioning
- Knowledge of technology related to strength and conditioning
- Computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office)
