Job Summary
Design and execute age-appropriate training programs that prioritize long-term athletic development and encourage lifelong fitness for grades 6-12. Create systems and schedules supporting multi-sport athletes, ensuring peak performance during in-season play and recovery during the off-season. Lead, train, and supervise all weight room sessions with a focus on proper form, safety, and life skills like discipline and brotherhood. Implement proactive strategies to reduce the risk of common athletic injuries and maintain accurate records of student progress. Work closely with the Athletic Director and sport-specific coaches to align strength training with team goals, while collaborating daily to manage injured athletes and return-to-play protocols. Contribute to the oversight of the Kemper Athletic Center's maintenance and cleanliness, and work outside of normal school hours to meet the needs of athletic teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- CSCS (NSCA) or SCCC (CSCCa) certification
- CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience teaching/coaching in a high school or collegiate setting
- Must be able to lift up to 50+/- pounds
- Must be able to circulate among students
- Must be able to visually monitor students
- Must be able to demonstrate all lifts and movements effectively
- Must be able to move from field to field and from building to building as assigned or required by athletic activities
- Occasionally required to work in poor weather conditions such as temperature, precipitation, and wind
