Job Summary
Head Start Teacher responsible for delivering developmentally appropriate learning experiences in language, literacy, math, science, social studies, creative arts, and physical development, aligned with the Head Start Early Learning Outcomes Framework for Birth to Five. Responsibilities include using prescribed curricula, integrating child assessment data into planning, supporting screenings and evaluations, engaging families through conferences and group activities, maintaining safe and healthy classroom environments, complying with positive adult-child interactions, completing required training, maintaining organized child files, communicating regularly with parents, and collaborating with staff and professionals. Requirements include an Associate degree (or enrollment in an AA program with completion within 18 months), Bachelor’s degree preferred, CDA within 12 months if transcript lacks Early Childhood Education hours, and a minimum of two years of relevant classroom experience. The role includes extensive responsibilities to protect children’s safety, supports for parent engagement, and travel up to 50% for conferences and events. English and Spanish proficiency is preferred; incumbents must meet health, background, driving, and eligibility requirements. Required Qualifications
- Associates Degree or demonstrated progress toward AA with completion within 18 months
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- CDA within 12 months if no Early Childhood Education hours on transcript
- two years of experience in an early childhood classroom
- valid driver’s license
- pass health examination
- clear criminal background check
- ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- travel up to 50% by car, bus, airplane, or train; some overnight travel may be required
- bilingual English and Spanish preferred
