Job Summary
Head Start Assistant Teacher I supports classroom operations, supervises 20 children, helps develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities, assists with IEPs and inclusive practices, supports Dual Language Learner instruction, ensures compliance with Head Start standards, CACFP, and licensing requirements, and fosters positive family engagement and supportive learning environments. The role involves aiding in lesson planning, health and safety practices, and maintaining consistent routines under supervision, with emphasis on developmental screenings, assessments, and collaboration with families and staff.
Required Qualifications
- Preschool CDA or enrolled in a CDA or degree seeking program
- HS Diploma or GED required
- At least 6 months experience working with children birth-five in a group setting required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess valid Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to obtain one prior to employment
- Must pass a Central Registry Background Check, CAN State Registry Check, and Criminal History Check
- Must have a valid Arizona Driver’s License and pass an Agency driver’s test
- Must have a clean driving record for past 5 years
