Job Summary
Assist the teacher in providing a safe, supervised educational setting for children across the classroom, outdoor play area, and field trips. Promote social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development relative to the Creative Curriculum and Licensing guidelines. Encourage parental involvement and assist in developing individual goals, providing ongoing assessments and facilitating transitions into kindergarten. Full-time employment requires a Child Development Associate credential or enrollment in a related program, plus one year of preschool experience. Valid Virginia Driver's License and auto insurance are mandatory. Candidates must present current TB/Physical results or complete testing within ten to thirty days. Required Qualifications
- At least a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential
- Enrolled in a program leading to an associate or baccalaureate degree
- Enrolled in a child development associate credential program to be completed within two years
- Certificate/transcripts to validate ECE coursework or related classes
- Valid Virginia Driver's License
- Proof of current auto insurance
- Immediate enrollment in Child Care Division - Criminal History Registry
- Current TB test
- Physical examination
Desired Qualifications
- Demonstrated classroom ability
- One-year full-time preschool classroom experience or equivalent
- Knowledge of typical behaviors/expectations of three and four-year-old children
- One-year of relevant experience
- Excellent communication skills
- Good listening skills
- Good writing skills
