Job Summary
Teach and maintain a safe, healthy, developmentally appropriate preschool classroom of 18 four-year-olds with assistance from teacher assistants and aides. Prepare and implement lesson plans for age-appropriate activities while maintaining compliance with NYS Daycare and Head Start regulations. Provide leadership, supervision, and guidance to classroom staff, ensuring systematic planning and accurate recordkeeping. Work independently and as a team member to deliver quality programming for Head Start children and families, advocating for diverse families while maintaining confidentiality.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
- NYS Early Childhood Education or Special Education certification in B-2 or N-6
- 5-year plan to obtain certification
- Knowledge of early childhood
- Ability to work with young children
- Supportive and non-judgmental in working with diverse families
- Strong organization
- Communication skills
- Time management skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of program and agency related information
- Ability to serve as an advocate for children and families
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Ability to provide quality programming for Head Start children and families
- Ability to keep accurate detailed records
- Valid driver's license
- Satisfactory medical exam
- TB test clearance
- Clearance from the NYS Office of Children and Family Services
- Clearance from the NYS Central Register for Child Abuse & Neglect
- Clearance from the NYS Criminal Justice Center
