Job Summary
Head Start HIPPY Home Visitor responsible for initiating and maintaining weekly home visits with families enrolled in Head Start Home Base, providing case management for three-year-old children, conducting developmental screenings, establishing Individual Family Support Plans, facilitating Parent-Child activities, and collecting/imputing data. Visits are home-based, typically 90 minutes, with potential to facilitate parenting support groups and coordinate community resources. Requires documenting progress, reporting issues, and adapting activities to family needs while maintaining a dependable schedule and adhering to program policies.
Required Qualifications
- Two years of college, with preference given to applicant with Bachelor’s
- Maturity and experience in successfully working with children (3-5 years of age)
- Knowledge of normal child growth and development
- Ability to plan and organize group meetings and special activities
- Ability to motivate parents and to learn and practice HIPPY
- Ability to maintain boundaries while providing supportive services
- Ability to demonstrate and assist families with setting up learning stations in a home environment
- Knowledge of community resources and services
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate to diverse individuals
- Experience working in culturally diverse communities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to understand and communicate effectively using both written and verbal skills
- Demonstrate success in accomplishing tasks akin to responsibilities listed
- Willingness to comply with policies and participate in training
- Background check and drug screen requirements
- MD fingerprinting requirement for individuals in contact with minors
- HB 486 Child Sexual Abuse and Prevention statements compliance
- Non-discrimination policies implementation
