Job Summary
Teach Head Start early childhood education by planning and providing developmentally appropriate learning experiences that support intellectual, physical, social, and emotional development; create a classroom environment that fosters student voice and safety; develop and implement instructional plans aligned with Calvert County curricula; maintain portfolios and conduct weekly observations to assess progress; monitor student outcomes and use formative and summative assessments; communicate with students, parents, staff, and community; collaborate with instructional assistants and volunteers; adhere to Head Start Performance Standards, safety protocols, and required procedures; maintain records, prepare and conduct evaluations, and participate in professional learning, home visits, parent conferences, and school/community events; may require flexible hours and grant-funded status; position located in Lusby, Maryland with the possibility of reassignment as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Maryland Professional Eligibility Certificate, Standard Professional Certificate or Advanced Professional Certificate in the appropriate field of education; or Maryland Conditional Degree Certificate as outlined in COMAR; or a baccalaureate or advanced degree in Early Childhood Education (ECE); or a baccalaureate or advanced degree and coursework equivalent to a major relating to ECE, with experience teaching preschool-age children; or alternatives deemed appropriate by Calvert County Public Schools
