Job Summary
Head Softball Coach with a second sport/flexible teaching field focus. Leads curriculum planning and instruction for both athletic and academic programs, coaches student-athletes in softball and supports instruction in the second sport/teaching field (preferably social studies or math). Develops and implements teaching plans, monitors student progress, and ensures adherence to UIL rules. Exercises supervision over teachers’ aides/volunteers, coordinates athletic activities and competitions, and fosters professional growth through varied instructional techniques and ongoing development. Maintains discipline, records, and communication with students, parents, staff, and community, while promoting sportsmanship, academic achievement, and holistic student development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certification in assigned content area
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Knowledge of UIL rules
- Ability to supervise student athletes
- Experience: at least one year student teaching or approved internship
- Experience as coach or participant in sport assigned
