Job Summary
Head Softball Coach +2nd Sport / Flexible Teaching Field (Preferably Soc. Studies or Math) - Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Texas Education Agency guidelines, coach student-athletes in softball and a second sport, develop and implement curriculum plans, manage classrooms and athletic activities, supervise aides/volunteers, maintain records, and foster student growth academically and athletically. Requires a Bachelor’s degree, valid Texas teaching certification in the assigned content area, demonstrated competency in the subject area, and at least one year of student teaching or approved internship. Responsibilities include applying UIL rules, coordinating athletic programs, planning field trips, using a variety of instructional techniques and media, communicating with students, parents, and staff, and contributing to the school’s mission through professional development and leadership in both classroom and athletic settings.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certification in assigned content area
- Demonstrated competency in the academic subject area assigned
- At least one year student teaching or approved internship
- Experience as coach or participant in sport assigned
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, administration, staff, parents, and the general public
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Knowledge of UIL rules
- Assists in supervision of teacher’s aide(s) and volunteers
- Maintains grade records and attendance
- Demonstrates professional, ethical, and responsible behavior
- Maintains current knowledge of district policies and procedures
- Uses technology and audiovisual teaching aids
