Job Summary
Define and execute AISHA's technology roadmap while leading architectural decisions across AI, backend, frontend, and data layers. Oversee development of core AI models including NLP, symptom checkers, and diagnostic reasoning engines, ensuring outputs are clinically appropriate and bias-mitigated. Recruit, manage, and mentor engineers and data scientists to establish best practices in agile delivery, CI/CD pipelines, and documentation. Own platform infrastructure on AWS/GCP/Azure, manage vendor integrations for EHR and telehealth systems, and lead cybersecurity strategy and incident response. Ensure full compliance with NDPR, HIPAA principles, and international health data governance frameworks. Represent technology in board presentations and investor meetings while collaborating with clinical advisors and legal teams.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in software/product engineering
- At least 3 years in a senior technical leadership role
- Proven track record of leading end-to-end product technology delivery from MVP to growth stage
Desired Qualifications
- Master's degree in Artificial Intelligence, Health Informatics, or an MBA with a technology focus
- Demonstrated experience building and scaling AI-powered or data-driven products — healthtech experience is a strong advantage
- Experience working in or with African markets; understanding of low-bandwidth and mobile-first user environments is a plus
- Strong proficiency in Python, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript
- Familiarity with Go or Rust
- Deep expertise in machine learning frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch)
- Experience with LLM orchestration tools (LangChain, OpenAI API, Anthropic API, etc.)
- Proficient in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Experience with containerization (Docker/Kubernetes)
- Experience with micro services architecture
- Experience with FHIR, HL7, or other health data interoperability standards
- Familiarity with vector databases, RAG pipelines, and AI agent frameworks
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills with the ability to inspire and manage diverse technical teams
- Strong strategic thinking balanced with hands-on technical credibility
- Excellent communication skills — ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
- High sense of ownership, accountability, and mission alignment with improving healthcare access
