Job Summary
Head of Strategy & Operations at Wintermute leads cross-functional strategic initiatives within the Strategy & Operations team in the COO office. The role involves designing and owning strategic projects, scaling core business functions, delivering analytics and reporting, driving efficiency and revenue growth, and working on product and new business opportunities (including licensing). Key activities include cross-functional delivery, go-to-market improvements, data analysis and dashboards, talent operations support, commercial review and supplier coordination, and ensuring execution across multiple disciplines. Required and desired capabilities include 8-10 years in high-performance environments, 2+ years in crypto/trading contexts, hands-on execution, strong communication, structured project management, deep crypto/trading knowledge, SQL/Python data skills, and familiarity with Tableau/PowerBI; MBA is a plus. The role favors a meritocratic, ownership-driven individual who can work beyond standard hours and thrive in a London-based team, reporting to the COO.
Required Qualifications
- 8-10 years experience in a high-performance environment (e.g., management consulting, investment banking, PE, VC-backed startup, law firm)
- 2+ years of in-house execution experience in trading firms or other crypto firms
- Strong problem solving skills (quantitative and qualitative)
- Hands-on and able to drive execution; not a strategy-only role
- Strong communication skills; clear, concise listening
- Very structured, organized, reliable; able to drive urgency and alignment in cross-functional projects
- Deep understanding of trading and crypto
- Willingness to learn about new technologies quickly (conceptual and hands-on)
- Experience with data querying languages (e.g. SQL) and scripting languages (e.g. Python) potentially plus
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g. Tableau, PowerBI) to communicate insights effectively
- Ownership mentality; ready to work beyond 9-to-5 to achieve business goals
- Meritocratic mindset; focus on delivery
