Job Summary
Lead the Special Collections Department through reference services, curatorial oversight, collection development, and long-range planning. Manage acquisitions, preservation standards, and disaster preparedness while overseeing organizational archives and digital initiatives including the National Digital Newspaper Program. Develop departmental goals, coordinate the Board's committee, and drive community outreach, exhibitions, and donor relationships. Conduct bibliographical research, perform cataloging, and implement preventive conservation practices to ensure the long-term accessibility of rare materials.
Required Qualifications
- MLS from an ALA-accredited Library School with coursework or demonstrated experience in rare books, archives, or Special Collections
- Minimum of five to seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in Special Collections
- Google Workspace experience
- Experience with Zoom, Google Meet, or similar web conferencing platforms
Desired Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of supervisory or leadership experience
- Previous experience serving on an organization's leadership team
- Experience managing grants, collaborative projects, and strategic initiatives
