Job Summary
Lead a small, hands-on engineering team building the software infrastructure for an automated wet-lab platform powered by AI agents. Own the engineering roadmap, set technical direction across frontend, backend, data pipelines, and lab-hardware integration, and ship high-impact code while growing the team. You’ll merge product strategy with engineering execution, ensuring the team ships fast with high quality, and you’ll cultivate AI-assisted development practices to create a genuine speed advantage. The role emphasizes staying technically hands-on, shaping architecture, and guiding the organization toward scalable, reliable delivery in biotech alongside a culture of openness and strong ownership.
Required Qualifications
- Shipped production software for years and still wants to code
- Built and scaled engineering teams in startup or high-growth environments
- Owned or shaped an engineering roadmap
- Made pragmatic architectural decisions across frontend, backend, data, and infrastructure
- Experience with AI-native tooling and AI-assisted development practices
- Interest in biology and product that runs biology experiments
- High-autonomy, founder mindset; can work with open context and vision
- Proven ability to hire, grow, and set the bar for a fast-shipping team
