Job Summary
Head of Sales to lead Ascend's sales organization from San Francisco, owning the closed-won results and guiding a team of 8-10 AEs across SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise. You will drive forecast discipline, coach reps in key deals, take ownership of pipeline and weekly cadences, align with Marketing, Customer Success, Product, and Finance, and partner with leadership to refine KPIs and the GTM motion. The role emphasizes hands-on deal execution as a player-coach, cross-functional collaboration, and building a high-performance revenue engine in a fast-growing insurance/fintech environment. Location is onsite in SoMa, San Francisco, with a compensation package including OTE 350k–400k and comprehensive benefits.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years in B2B technology sales with experience across SMB, Mid-Market, and Enterprise segments
- 2+ years leading quota-carrying sales teams with a track record of building high-performance culture
- Strong forecasting discipline with experience running a clean forecast
- Experience with land-and-expand motions; knowledge of net-dollar retention (NDR) as a north star
- Comfortable in a player-coach role, able to run deals and develop reps in parallel
- Excellent communication and executive presence with ability to engage CFO-level stakeholders
- Insurance/financial services/payments experience a plus
- High-growth startup experience preferred
