Job Summary
Lead the team responsible for undertaking food and feed safety risk assessment functions, commissioning research, and providing scientific and technical advice on microbiological, allergen, and chemical food safety. Manage a team of six scientists and three senior specialists, ensuring risk assessments are based on sound evidence and fostering a high-performing culture. Provide oversight for a research programme, managing project procurement, delivery, publication, and associated budgets. Represent FSS's interests on Scottish and UK Government, industry, and academic technical and science groups, while developing collaborative relationships with key government partners and stakeholders. This 12-month temporary promotion covers the substantive post holder during parental leave, with the possibility of extension.
