Job Summary

Head of Medical & Scientific Affairs for Respiratory & Immunology in the UK. Lead national/regional medical strategy, patient pathways influence, and pre-launch/launch activities for priority brands; provide strategic medical leadership to the UK Respiratory & Immunology unit; manage MSL and field medical teams; collaborate with NHS stakeholders and regulatory bodies (MHRA, NICE/SMC) on submissions, formulary, and market access; drive real-world evidence generation, ABPI-compliant communications, and external partnerships; shape launch strategies and ensure adoption of new medicines while fostering talent and organizational capability. In-person: minimum three days per week in the London office; strong emphasis on cross-functional leadership, data-driven decision-making, and policy engagement.

Required Qualifications

  • MBBS or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Medicine, Pharmacy or disease related science)
  • Extensive Medical Affairs leadership experience
  • Deep knowledge of the UK healthcare environment: NHS structures, national bodies (NICE/SMC, MHRA) and ABPI
  • Proven track record in building, leading and developing high-performing teams
  • Experience designing and delivering transforming-care initiatives with measurable system-level impact
  • Proven ability to build regulatory and market-access strategy with regulatory and access teams (MHRA, NICE/SMC)
  • Experience building senior external engagement and collaborations across the healthcare system
  • Experience in market-shaping and pre-launch/launch medical activity (ideally in Respiratory)
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to align medical strategy with business priorities
  • Proficiency in ABPI Code of Practice
  • Desirable: Registered Physician (GMC) or Pharmacist (GPhC); Royal College membership; deep technical expertise in asthma/COPD/biologics/immunology
  • Fluency with digital, data, and AI to sharpen medical strategy and direct field effort
  • Ability to lead organizational and cross-functional change
  • Hold or acquire Nominated Signatory status within 6 months
