Job Summary
Head of Medical & Scientific Affairs – Cardiovascular, Renal and Metabolic, London: Lead national/regional medical strategy for CVRM, drive transforming-care initiatives, shape regulatory/market-access plans with MHRA/NICE/SMC, embed data-driven approaches, and oversee Medical Affairs leadership including MSL teams, external engagement, and launch readiness. Role requires MBBS or scientific degree, extensive Medical Affairs leadership in UK healthcare, ABPI Code compliance, and ability to collaborate across regulatory, policy, access, and commercial functions. In-person hybrid work in London with three days in the office weekly; strong leadership, communication, and strategic planning skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- MBBS or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Medicine, Pharmacy or disease-related science)
- Extensive Medical Affairs leadership experience
- Deep knowledge of the UK healthcare environment: NHS structures, NICE/SMC, MHRA
- Demonstrated success in building/leading high-performing teams and talent development
- Track record of designing/delivering transforming-care initiatives with measurable impact
- Experience in building regulatory and market-access strategy (MHRA, NICE/SMC)
- Experience in external engagement, advisory relationships, and partnerships across the healthcare system
- Experience in market-shaping and pre-launch/launch medical activity (CVRM)
- Strong commercial acuity and ability to align medical strategy with business priorities
- Proven ABPI Code compliance
- Desirable: GMC-registered physician or General Pharmaceutical Council pharmacist
- Digital/data/AI fluency to sharpen medical strategy
- Ability to lead organizational and cross-functional change
- Nominated Signatory status (within 6 months)
