Head of Logistics & Inventory
$175,000–$220,000 year
On-siteSan Leandro, California, United States
Job Summary
Own logistics operations across San Leandro and New Mexico sites, managing inbound/outbound freight, carrier selection, customs compliance, and end-to-end inventory from supplier dock to production line. Run receiving, warehousing, and shipping functions including layout, storage strategy, and material handling for large, high-value precision hardware. Plan and execute inter-site transfers with packaging and rigging coordination, while driving ERP/MES discipline for clean data and accurate inventory records. Build and lead the logistics team, establish KPIs for dock-to-stock time and on-time delivery, and set safety standards. Partner with supply chain and engineering to protect the production schedule and support machine installation campaigns with staging and kitting. This role requires onsite presence at both locations with regular travel during production ramps and installation campaigns.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years in logistics, warehousing, and inventory management for complex hardware (energy, aerospace, semiconductor equipment, automotive, or similar)
- 3+ years leading teams
- Proven success standing up or scaling multi-site logistics and warehouse operations, ideally during a production ramp
- Deep command of inventory management fundamentals: cycle counting programs, record accuracy, planning parameters, and shortage management
- Hands-on ERP/MES experience, including implementations or major process rollouts
- Experience moving large, high-value, or sensitive equipment, including specialized packaging, rigging coordination, and freight
- A builder's mindset — comfortable creating processes, systems, and teams from scratch in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment
- Strong cross-functional instincts — able to work daily with manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and installation teams
- Presence at both sites during production ramps and machine installation campaigns is essential
Desired Qualifications
- Experience supporting field installation or construction logistics for capital equipment
- Experience with a greenfield warehouse or site startup
- APICS/CPIM, CLTD, or lean/Six Sigma certification
