Job Summary
Lead the English Faculty across Years 7 to 12 by delivering a rigorous curriculum aligned with NSW curriculum and NESA requirements. Model excellent classroom practice, support high-quality curriculum design, and guide evidence-informed approaches to teaching, assessment, and feedback. Coach and mentor a team of educators while fostering a collaborative culture grounded in trust and continuous improvement. Drive strategic approaches to improve HSC performance, analyze student data to inform teaching, and lead moderation processes for consistent judgement. Manage faculty operations, including planning, assessment schedules, budget oversight, and resource management. Champion inclusive, intellectually challenging classrooms that support diverse learners and promote English within the broader academic and cultural life of the College.
Required Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications
- Full academic transcripts
- Current NESA accreditation
- Current NSW Working With Children Check clearance
- Demonstrated experience teaching secondary English
- Experience teaching Stage 6 English
- Australian citizenship, permanent residency or a current Australian work visa
- Australian Citizen/Resident or have a current Australian work visa
- NSW Working With Children Check Number
Desired Qualifications
- Previous leadership of English
- Capacity to teach English Advanced, Standard and English Extension
- Experience teaching across the full range of HSC English courses (including Extension 1 and 2)
- Previous experience as a Head of English
- Experience in curriculum planning, assessment design, moderation and feedback
- A commitment to ongoing professional learning and reflective practice
- An empathy and support with the Jewish School ethos
- Willingness to contribute to the broader academic, cultural and co-curricular life of the College
