Job Summary
Own the security roadmap and IT function for novel quantum-accelerated AI servers, managing identity, endpoint, and network security across physical and cloud fleets. Execute hands-on operations for MFA, IdP, MDM, and Zero Trust Access while leading compliance readiness for SOC 2 and incident response. Manage the full lifecycle of device procurement, inventory, and user on/off boarding policies alongside vendor relationships and export control enforcement. Drive documentation and audit practices to ensure systems remain maintainable as the team scales. This player-coach role integrates AI tool governance into daily workflows within a fast-growing deep tech environment.
Required Qualifications
- Think in systems: you see how identity, endpoints, network, and cloud fit together as one security surface
- Are curious and rigorous: you question assumptions and validate with evidence
- Move fast and build things: perfect is the enemy of done
- Take ownership: when something's broken, you own it to resolution
- Write things down: documentation is how your work scales
- Communicate clearly and assume good intent
- Built or significantly matured IT and security at a small, fast-growing company; ideally hardware or deeptech
- Taken a company to SOC 2 or a comparable framework from scratch
- Selected and managed long term relationships with external vendors
- Deep identity experience: Integration of IdP and SSO with 3rd party SAS providers
- Run zero trust architectures (Cloudflare, Zscaler, or similar) and operated EDR and SIEM tooling
- Managed Apple-primary fleets with MDM (Iru/Kandji, Jamf, Mosyle, or similar)
- Led small teams or directed contractors as a player-coach
- Full-time employment
- On-site in Ann Arbor, MI HQ/Lab
- Occasional travel to San Francisco office for cross-site coordination
