Job Summary
Head of Hardware Partnerships leads Adyen's global hardware agenda at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Commercial teams. Define the long-term hardware strategy, determine device categories and regional expansions, and drive high-stakes commercial relationships with top hardware partners to deliver merchant-first innovations. Own end-to-end commercial lifecycle, negotiate development agreements, align hardware capabilities with the software ecosystem (e.g., Tap to Pay, mobile-first POS), and scale hardware certification and distribution in new markets while maintaining device security and reliability. Lead partner-led innovation by pushing for features such as biometrics, enhanced connectivity, and custom industrial designs, and articulate strategic direction to executive stakeholders. This role is based in New York with in-person office expectations and some international travel.
Required Qualifications
- 5-10 years of experience leading hardware partnerships or product strategy within payments, POS, or consumer electronics sectors
- customer-obsessed with a product-first mindset
- ability to influence C-suite executives of global hardware manufacturers
- excellent communication and negotiation skills for complex development agreements
- experience managing end-to-end commercial lifecycles with global hardware partners
- ability to translate merchant feedback into actionable hardware requirements
- track record of driving global expansion and hardware certification in multiple regions
- understanding of hardware security, supply chains, and device reliability
- wamiliarity with biometrics, connectivity features, and industrial design considerations
- willingness to travel internationally to support partnerships and deployments
